If you know me, you know that I am a huge fan of Tati Westbrook, or better known as GlamLifeGuru on youtube. Recently, she launched her own cosmetic brand and released a brand new palette full of neutrals. Even though I am a huge fan of Tati and have a lot of respect for her, I will try my best to give an unbiased review of the palette.
The palette consists of 24 eyeshadows, 6 color schemes, and 4 textures. It is not your typical palette in that each column corresponds to a color and each row corresponds to a texture, rather than being mixed all around. The 4 textures consist of matte, sequin, metallic and glitter. All eyeshadows are swatched below.
After swatching the palette and applying it on my eyes several times, I definitely recommend it, especially if you are someone that loves neutral colors. This palette is great for both the beginner and the expert and has colors for all skin tones. Now let’s get into specifics.
The Mattes
The matte shades are so smooth and buttery. They have a lot of pigment in them and may take some practice getting used to. You only need a small amount of eyeshadow to blend onto the eye, especially when using the darker shades. When dipping into the brush you get a decent amount of kick-back (loose eyeshadow that comes off of the pressed powder). This does not personally bother me, but can definitely bother others. Overall, I really enjoy this formula. It reminds me of Anastasia Beverly Hills shadows as well as Natasha Denona eyeshadows.
The Sequins
This formula is very unique because the base of it is matte, but there is some glitter throughout. These shadows blend very well and also have a lot of pigment and some fall out. The glitter allows for a slightly better blend in my opinion, but the glitter itself moves around a bit so if you want the glitter to really shine through, you don’t want to over blend.
The Metallics
This formula is very smooth and buttery. They work well all over the lid. They don’t pack as much of a punch as some may like, but you can simply add the glitter shades on top. Totally a personal preference! These work best when applying with your fingers.
The Glitters
The star of the show. These are the best pressed glitters I have ever tried. Usually when I think of pressed glitter I think of kids makeup, but this is quite the contrary. These shadows are absolutely stunning and take any makeup look to the next level. I would be careful when working with them close to the lashes. It is definitely a risk to put ANY glitter near the eye, but so far I have had no issue working with these. In fact, they are very controllable so I don’t feel like I’m dumping glitter all over my eye. These also work great using your finger to apply. Seriously, these are better than any other brand I’ve tried!
The Makeup Look
I wanted to show you guys a look that every could wear, especially for a special occasion. I started by blending Soothe Matte all over my crease. I intensified the color with Ritual Matte especially on the outer corner of my eye. I then applied Soothe Glitter and Aura Glitter to my eyelid. These are my favorite glitter shades! I took Memory Matte and applied it close to my lash line to look like liner. My fake lashes got a bit wonky so I had to apply liner over this for the final picture. I then put all 3 matte shades on my bottom lash line. Lastly, I took Aura Sequin and used it to highlight my brow bone and my inner corner. I absolutely love this shade and will use it to highlight or as a lid shade when I don’t want too much sparkle. That completes the makeup look!
I highly recommend this palette. It has everything anyone would want and is amazing for the everyday person or a working makeup artist. It retails for $48 making each shade $2 each for reference. This palette is currently sold out but is supposed to come back in stock in the upcoming weeks. It is also a permanent item in Tati Beauty’s Collection.
EDIT: The Vol 1 Palette will be restocked Friday January 10th at 10am PST.
