I think we can all agree that this palette is STUNNING. There are so many beautiful bright colors and a few unique ones. But just because it looks beautiful doesn’t always mean it performs beautifully. I have tried this palette several times and am here to tell you whether or not I think it’s worth it.
The palette costs $45 and includes 14 shades (6 mattes and 8 shimmers), making each shadow cost about $3.20. I think this is decently reasonable, but obviously you can be your own judge of the price.
Of the 6 matte shades, 3 of them are pressed pigments (Palm, Cannes, Bahamas). Pressed pigments are a bit trickier to work with than regular eyeshadows, so they take some practice. The best way to apply them is by tapping them on to your eye after applying some sort of tacky base (concealer is fine). From there you can blend the edges of the applied pigment with a fluffier brush. I had no difficulty at all with Palm and Bahamas, but found Cannes (the dark purple) to be difficult! It took me three applications to figure out how to work with it, but now I enjoy it.
Anyway, the shimmers are all phenomenal. I have zero complaints. You can apply them with a brush or your finger and they look amazing. The other 3 matte shadows are also great. They have a lot of pigment and blend well. There is a bit of fall out, but nothing that I’m not used to. I recommend applying this palette before your face makeup to avoid detrimental fall out on your cheeks.
I created three very different looks with the palette, so you can see the versatility it has. The first look is a cool toned, purple, and pink smoked out eye. I started by applying Cannes to the outer corner and crease. I then blended the edges with shade Cabana. I went back and forth a few times to get the blending and pigment that I wanted. I then took Mediterranean on my finger and patted it on my eye, blending it into the edge of the purple shade. Lastly, I highlighted my inner corner and brow bone with Sails (my new favorite highlighting shade for the inner corner) and added a pink eyeliner!
The next look I created is a pink, purple, and gold half cut-crease. I started by applying Bahamas to the crease. In retrospect, I wish I applied Cannes first because it is a more difficult shade to work with. After applying Bahamas, I applied Cannes to the outer corner and lower lash line. I then took some concealer and created a cut-crease on my lid. I applied the shade Inheritance on top of the concealer with a brush and then highlighted the inner corner and brown bone with Sails.
The last look is much more natural and would be a great everyday look! I wanted to see if the palette could create a really sophisticated yet natural look despite all of the vibrant colors. I started by blending Cabana into my crease and lower lash line. I then took the shade Coastline and blended it a bit deeper into my crease. Next, I took Palm and tapped it into the outer corner of my lid and crease. I blended the edges by going back into Cabana with a fluffy brush. Lastly, I applied Sails to the inner corner, lid, and brow bone.
Overall, I recommend this palette if you are looking for more vibrant colors. If you are someone that wears neutral colors everyday, it’s best not to spend this much money on just a few neutral shades, unless you are a collector. The quality is great, which I think justifies the price, and it truly is very versatile (as you can see by the various looks I created). If you end up purchasing this palette, I hope you enjoy it!
