A few weeks ago I was shopping on Sephora, as I do too often, and I found this stunning limited edition holiday eyeshadow palette from NARS called the Inferno Palette. This palette retails for $59.00 and consists of 12 eyeshadows…I know, it’s a steep price!
Do I think everyone needs to run and by this palette? Heck no! It’s $60. But if you are a makeup collector or if this palette screams to you, you can’t go wrong. At first glance this palette might scare some people away with all of the colors, but it is actually quite versatile. I created two looks for you; one look is very natural and the other is very glam to show you the range of looks you can do with this palette.
The Natural Look
With this look I really only used two shades. The first shade I used was I’m So Excited (the last shade on the first row), which is a medium brown shimmer shade. I put this one on the outer half of my eye and through the crease. A lot of people say not to put shimmers in the crease, but I say there are no rules in makeup! This shade went on like butter. I then put Let it Whip (the second shade on the first row) on my lid to give it a more brightening affect. Lastly, I put I’m So Excited on my lower lash line and I was done! Such an easy look that I could complete within seconds.
The Glam Look
Now this look was more complicated, but arguably more fun! I first took I’m So Excited and put it through my crease as a transition shade. Then I took Rock Freak (the third shade on the top row) and applied it all throughout my crease. I really buffed this one all around to give it a more blown out look. Next I took the red shimmer shade, Come to Me and applied it on the outer half of my lid to give the eye look more color! This shade is beautiful and unique! Lastly, I took Turn the Beat Around (the second shade on the last row) and applied it all over my lid. This really amped up the look, although in hindsight I wish I applied more of this color!
Everything blended out like a dream. The glitter shades are true glitters and might take a little practice to use. They work best with your finger but you can definitely try a brush. I used a brush for all the shades but the glitter in this look.
Overall, I’m so glad I bought this palette and I can see myself using it a lot, but I don’t think it’s for everyone with such a steep price. If you are collector or really love this color story I suggest getting it soon since it is limited edition! I don’t think it will disappoint you.
