Today we are going over a few different ways to style these plaid work pants. First of all, these pants are my favorite slacks I’ve ever tried. They hug my curves perfectly without showing every lump and bump. They are also high waisted, but they don’t cut into my stomach (especially when I sit down). Lastly, they are under $50!! They also come in many colors and prints. All items are linked below.
The first way to style these pants (or slacks in general) is by adding a sweater. Here I paired the pants with a striped navy and white sweater that is a bit cropped since the pants are high waisted. I love the contrasting directions of stripes. It gives the outfit some extra detail without going overboard. The great thing about plaid pants is you can add a sweater that is the color of any of the stripes within the plaid.
Next way to style the pants is to add a long sleeve blouse and tuck it in. (Pictured above). Again, because the pants are high waisted, the tucked in look is perfect! I’m wearing a simple white blouse with black lining details. This look allows for the pants to really stand out without being too flashy, since these are work clothes.
The third way I styled these pants was by adding a blazer. The oversized blazer is really in right now, so I added a neutral toned tan blazer on top. This part is where you can have a lot of fun since you can add even more color. I red blazer would have also looked great with this look. The other great thing about blazers is you can always take them off if you get hot or wear them if you’re cold, (pretty self explanatory lol) but they are great transitional pieces for various weather!
With all of these outfits I’m wearing nude pointed toe pumps with about a 2.5in heel. Wearing heels to work can be really amazing and empowering, but it’s important to make sure they are practical. I love these ones because they are simple, in style, and are comfortable to wear for a long period of time.
I hope you enjoy these different ways to style these pants. They may be super simple, but I think there’s value in seeing a realistic outfit put together: one that you can probably pull from your closet. If you recreate any of these outfits tag me on instagram @makeupbykatejane so I can repost it!
