Hello loves! I tried out the brand new Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Ultra-Fine Setting Spray and I’m here to tell you my thoughts on it. I purchased the item on Sephora for $28. When I received it a few days later, I was shocked to see the size of it. It was much smaller than I expected it. I didn’t pay attention to the size when I bought it, but it is 75ML (about 25ML less than a typical foundation). At first I was upset by how small it was, but then I compared the price and size to the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray. The Urban Decay spray is $32 for 118ML, so overall it is a few cents per ML cheaper than the Glow Recipe spray. I’m not too mad at that, especially if the Glow Recipe spray works better… (plus I have so many setting sprays I never actually finish any of the bottles so maybe this is good for me).
So essentially the main claims of the product are to hydrate the skin and to enhance makeup application. You can use the product on bare skin or on top of makeup. I tried out both ways over the last few days.
The spray is predominantly made of watermelon (which makes it smell AMAZING). The watermelon claims to soothe and hydrate the skin. The spray also contains hyaluronic acid, which is an ingredient that helps to hold moisture in the skin. It’s also made of ingredients such as apple cider vinegar and hibiscus flower AHA (an alpha hydroxy acid). These ingredient claim to help smooth texture on the skin, as well as soften and hydrate the skin after makeup application.
Overall, I really like the setting spray. It is a little pricey, but I love how it hydrates my skin after I apply my makeup. I use it in between powder steps to help diffuse the powdery appearance. It makes my makeup look like it’s a part of my skin instead of sitting on top of my skin. Another reason I love the spray is because of the mist. It is SO FINE AND PERFECT. It just comes out of the bottle so effortlessly and the mist is so fine you can barely feel it on your skin. I haven’t gotten any droplets of it on my skin (which I do get with Mac Fix+ and Urban Decay All Nighter) which is a HUGE plus.
I personally haven’t noticed a difference when I apply it to my bare skin. It feels great when I apply it but over the last few days I haven’t noticed a difference with my actual skin; I’ve only noticed an improved makeup application.
All in all, I recommend this product to those that are looking for a new setting spray that makes your makeup look like it is part of your skin. If you’re looking for a spray that is more of a skin care item I would opt for the Mario Badescu Rosewater Facial Spray. I’ve been using this facial spray for years and it refreshes and moisturizes my skin without the heaviness of applying moisturizer throughout the day.
I hope this review helps and whichever spray you use, you enjoy!
